BRAINSTORM!

DOES THIS IDEA make sense to you? The proposed idea: Our city of Dallas government, particularly Oak Cliff and West Dallas councilmen, creating a citizens commission to hear reports from EPA and TCEQ (our state environmental commission) on Mt Creek Lake. If remediation efforts are proceeding as planned, no problem! If things are not going well, the commission could give appropriate representation of the community's needs.
These meetings could take place yearly or even every two years. Citizens could attend and ask questions.
I've suggested my idea to a councilman, but was referred by his assistant to EPA ...who will "address my specific concerns and questions...."
I know what EPA has to say.
I want to know what DALLAS CITIZENS have to say about MCL and a TCE contaminated aquifer.
Why, oh why, have we not done this-formed a citizens goup? Sometimes I think government tries its best to wrestle power from the people. Or, did we ever have any once election day passed?
OK, I know sometimes we have to empower ourselves. But I really prefer to do things in a friendly, co-operative way, don't you? Between you and me, this strategy hasn't gotten me very far.
