DRILLING WEST DALLAS: 13 WELLS?

I am glad to see Hensley Field at Mountain Creek Lake in the news, though not happy about the circumstances that necessitate news coverage. Thirteen gas wells going in at MCL? I thought it was ONE...then possibly FOUR. But 13? And then 23 within a year?
I have been researching the status of Mountain Creek Lake for two years, and read at least eighteen months ago, that MCL/Dallas Naval AIr Station was being reserved by the city for gas.. AND OIL DRILLING!
Well, that figures, I thought. Contaminated land with a ruined, TCE-clogged aquifer is not fit for development; so of course it would be the perfect no-man's land drilling haven. Let's get some cash for that ruined site one way or another, I thought, trying hard to think like a savvy Dallas commission member.
The part of the puzzle I could not grasp was: WHY THE HECK IS THERE A SUBDIVISION OF NEW HOMES by the lake? Why are people sinking their savings and casting their net into the future by mortgaging a bungalow on Cape Cod Lane by Cesium-bottomed Mountain Creek Lake? Gonna cast a schooner out, float on military "embalming fluid"- a lovely description not far from true, gazing up at helicopters? Come on!
The city should have never allowed builders into their GASLAND, and should take any present or potential profits from drilling and use them to help these people get out of these homes before TCE comes up through the slabs.
I am incensed-for folks a few blocks..er..miles...away who are about to be affected by drilling cocktail in the air, and for those already living by the lake.
The city of Dallas must not get away with looking cool, confused, and then collecting the profits.
This drilling plan has been in place a long time. Ask EPA, or the city of Dallas -whoever answers messages these days.
You might ask the city if they can get out of this drilling lease situation. Where are the millions they were paid?

The more I think about this, the more indignant I become. All those attempts to talk to the city two years ago! Why was I always routed to the office of business development (or some similar dept)? I wanted to talk about the environment at the Dallas NAS/Mt Creek Lake, not business! Why were my concerns ignored locally - then passed on like a blah hot potato to TCEQ?
It seems clear now that, all that time, the Mt Creek Lake area was slated to become a cash cow-a belching, spewing, gaseous gas cow-with the city getting 25% percent of revenues from drilling plus the mega-millions leasing fee.
Isn't it sad that I naively expected folks with a financial agenda to be caring and
concerned about "doing the right thing" for our community? Really embarrassing-more for them than me.
