Remember when gas was $4.25 a gallon and politicians were constantly preaching that we had to quit using foreign oil? It wasn't that long ago.
In just a couple of years, gas prices are down by half, shales in New York and Texas are being drilled to heck and back with chemicals and mud everywhere, and tons of clunkers were cashed in and crushed up...
Do you see what's happened?
Our land, homes, and people are being destroyed and injured in order to get energy from the ground of our homeland-not from somebody else's.
Today a new natural gas power plant in Connecticut blew up, killing and injuring numerous people.
Recently, several homes in Dallas have blown apart-and a whole block was evacuated-due to natural gas leaks.
Natural gas is dangerous in every stage-drilling, storage, testing, usage.
I'm not saying we're wrong in becoming more natural gas dependent, just that there's no free lunch or almost free gas, like we hoped and were led to believe. There are costs, trade-offs, and continuing problems like ongoing war in the Middle East.
Natural gas is no quick/easy/painless fix like the ones Americans tend to crave.
Surely energy and the environment need intense, immediate scrutiny and regulation today before we blow ourselves up and do irrevocable damage to our beloved country and planet.
You know, it only takes a second to die, kill, explode, to accidentally poison and pollute. No do-overs-unfortunately-in the life-death arena for President Obama, Congress, EPA, soldiers, or you and I with our fragile lungs, organs, lives.
