Be sure to read the Dallas Morning News story today on Dallas obtaining a new reservoir (or two) for drinking water and the billions of cost involved, the loss of forest land/nature preserves, the miles of pipe that will be laid from East Texas to here. Quite a vast distance, I'd say.
No mention of poor Mountain Creek Lake already conveniently in the heart of Dallas needing its silty bottom vacuumed out and its toxic water treated.
Everyone loves progress - especially if it's truly necessary, efficient and well-executed. But progress is also solving big military mess-ups that waste land, water, and opportunity for recreation, fishing, and overall quality of life.
Mountain Creek Lake, Dallas NAS and NWIRP are, to my way of thinking, national cemeteries with no bodies. Does anyone else feel that patriots and proud, capable Texans would or should passionately want this area restored to a far greater extent than has been done?
We've seen a minimal, "cost effective" effort-so what's next, city fathers?
We know reservoirs are high on your to do list!
