GOD BLESS NUCLEAR, TEXAS

Is Texas becoming the nuclear capital of the world? Have we been chosen to forever maintain the radioactive waste of the federal government and the PCBs from the Hudson River? Is it true that in Andrews, Tx/Andrews County the following is commencing or has already begun: nuclear research, a reactor with DOE fuel, a radioactive waste dumpsite, possibly a haven for Barnett Shale NORM drilling waste via a local clean up company? A nuclear research program for UT? And in twenty years the state will bear the liability for whatever damage this research and "storage" produces?*
Our Texas legislators must think this is totally financially cool. Oh, I am ready to follow some big money, friends and fellow Texans.
Did anyone ask you if it is okay for poor, dry, delicate Andrews-home of the largest aquifer in the nation to become NUCLEAR, TEXAS?
Citizens no longer know what is going on with government and have no say!
How does a caring, sane person handle this?
On one hand, we don't want to be looking for nuclear waste behind every drilling rig or military hangar and screaming that the end of the world has come! On the other hand, we have a right to know we're fully protected and that our future won't be sold down the toxic river for a campaign contribution.
WHAT TO DO? And where is Ms. Manners when we need her?
Frankly, I recommend hollering then contacting legislators because my trust factor in regard to Texas government and the environment
is running on E for EMPTY. And you???

*The Andrews County dump site is licensed to receive waste classified (classes) 1, 2, and 3-with one being the least radioactive. So, it's very possible class 3 waste could be buried in the mix without the public's awareness of risk. It's also possible, according to the practices of similar dumps, for the "low level" waste to be re-classified as "below limits of concern" and be sold as playground, parking lot, or landscaping filler dirt. In such a case, the "dump" would be a clearing house for rad waste and facilitate its re-entry into communities. Once this facility is running at full capacity and people have forgotten about it, who'll really know what they do? Oh yeah, state of Texas regulators! Too bad, the ones with the most knowledge and integrity quit over deals like this (so I read...)
God bless Nuclear, Texas, where cash is king.
