Bloggers and their readers are watching the Trinity River-watching to see whether natural gas drilling companies indeed pump water out of it for use in their drilling process. If you happen to drive along the river, keep an eye out for trucks on the levee and pumps and hoses. Apparently legitimate equipment has permit stickers on it, though I don't personally know of any legit equipment or why it would be there.
Funny how this came out. A re-assuring worker told a homeowner not to worry that her Denton water supply was being affected, "cause we pump the water out of the Trinity!"
Great news for Dallas...
I've read Dallas does use some water (for our city water supply) from a fork of the river, but the Dallas water utility website says treated wastewater from Dallas flows into the Trinity and is used by other cities. At any rate, our new town lake won't look too gorgeous with its water sucked out and pumped underground under poor, gaseous, waterless Tarrant County. This is not a pretty picture or smell.
But...you know, this Barnett Shale business must be booming if investors from Paris, France, are buying in with 2 billion+! (French company Total investing 25% stake in Chesapeake, which is an Oklahoma company. I read a citizen comment-perhaps by an "insider"-you never know-that Total just wants experience with drilling here so they can do the same deed in Europe. Will they ever learn how to mess up here in our home state! Oh, God bless Texas-the 7th most polluted "nation"/area in the world!
Keep reading TXSharon with me and her linked testimonials with photos. You can almost feel the earth move under your feet... (buzzing sound effects...)
Really - people are figuring out this drilling problem with good sense and five senses: the slimy residue, the smell, the earthquakes, the mud and hoses, the radioactive readings, the dead creatures including at least one poor man in Louisiana.... Now, as for the state environmental commission, can they see clearly with the wealthy and powerful oil/gas lobbyists working their strange magic? One word come to my mind-HYPNOTIZED!
